1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I graduated from the US Air Force Academy, where I focused on counter-terrorism and earned a bachelors in Middle Eastern Studies. During my ongoing Air Force career, I have flown the A-10 Warthog, the MQ-1 Predator—sometimes called a drone—and the top secret stealth bomber. I have been shot at, locked up with missiles, and assisted with High Value Target captures. Before publication, portions of my books must be reviewed by security professionals to ensure they do not endanger US national security.
2. Describe your book Shadow Maker (Nick Baron Series) in 30 words or less.
When a CIA drone strike goes wrong, the collateral damage spins out of control. Nick Baron must catch the terrorist mastermind he created before millions pay the price.
3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Shadow Maker presented a significant challenge, with four escalating attacks that stretch across the globe and across the spectrum of conventional, cyber, and WMD weapons. Bringing all of that together within the context of an actual chess match between the hero and the villain was certainly the greatest challenge I have yet faced as a writer.
4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?
Without a doubt, I am influenced equal parts by Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series, Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series, and JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series.
5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?
Marketing is tough! Of course, I use BookBuzzr, building games that relate to war and covert operations, and sending out previews of Shadow Maker. As an expert in foreign affairs and counter-terrorism, I write opeds and blogs. My non-fiction work has been published by Fox News and Newsmax Global.
6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?
I love to play ball with my two sons and run a Christian discipleship program with the young people in my extended family. Occasionally I also head to the gun range for a few hundred rounds of "research."
7. What are you working on next?
That is highly classified. Hopefully you will see very soon.
