The need for underwater wireless communications exists in applications such as remote control in off-shore oil industry, pollution monitoring in environmental systems, collection of scientific data recorded at ocean-bottom stations, speech transmission between divers, and mapping of the ocean floor for detection of objects, as well as for the discovery of new resources. Wireless underwater communications can be established by transmission of acoustic waves.
Underwater communications, which once were exclusively military, are extending into commercial fields. The possibility to maintain signal transmission, but eliminate physical connection of tethers, enables gathering of data from submerged instruments without human intervention, and unobstructed operation of unmanned or autonomous underwater vehicles (UUVs , AUVs).

Born in Bangalore as son of Shree Praveen Kumar and Smt. Jayashree, presently Pratheek Praveen Kumar resides with parents in Bangalore. Pratheek Praveen Kumar completed his engineering course in Telecommunications Engineering from the reputed R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore in 2014. He did his ICSE and ISC with distinction from the prestigious Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bangalore.
Pratheek Praveen Kumar authored six books including an anthology of English Poems, “CALM REFLECTIONS”, published in the USA in 2009. He is also credited with several first prizes in national level essay competitions, as well as in inter-college essay competitions.
A cricket enthusiast, Pratheek Praveen Kumar loves horse riding, tennis, billiards, cycling and football. He stood first in Arm Wrestling competition held in R.V.College of Engineering, and stood first in Information Technology competition held in Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bangalore.
