We need to visit one other recent discovery. In the Gospel of Judas, the main character, 'Judas', is once again the Master James, as he dreams he is stoned to death, as James was, and is told he will "rule" over the others, once he will "sacrifice the man that bears me", meaning HIMSELF. He "exceeds" the rest, because he succeeds Jesus as Master, merging in mystic union with him, to disappear into the "luminous cloud" of Knowing, along with his beloved Master, 'Jesus'. In all church sources, as Eisenman said, James is the one to take the lead in the Assembly. He gets the bread in Gospel According to the Hebrews, and gives Jesus the gnostic kiss of spiritual authority in BOTH Apocalypses of James, from the Nag Hammadi Library.
I have read everything Dr. Eisenman has written, and I know him personally. He is a gracious and brilliant man, someone I am proud to call friend. I hope he gets to see some of the fruit of his labor. I give all of it five stars, because that's as many as can be given. Thanks, Bob. Well done, indeed.
