The Rekindled Affair

Robert Jones suddenly reappeared into her life. This was her second chance. He was the one that had got away and he made her feel like a giddy teenager again. Something about him stirred her up inside. A lot had changed in the 45 years they had been apart but at least one thing had stayed the same; he still knew how to press all her buttons. This was the night Victoria Noakes would truly live up to her reputation. The harlot in surgical stockings has a hot date.

"Dead Medium" revolves around seventy-five year old May Elizabeth Trump’s life after death. A hermit who doesn't really want to do anything with everybody else during her lifetime, she reluctantly agrees to help Penny Saunders, a woman who dies a few days before her, to solve the debt problem that she leaves behind to her daughter Chloe. With this, May eventually gets involves with a lot of people, both dead and alive, more than she likes. She is after all a dead medium who is capable of talking to the living; her ability is rare and in great demand.

Peter John is such a wonderful author with a brilliant writing skill, which makes the narration of the book somewhat nostalgic and beautiful. May Trump is truly the center of the story and makes the reading captivating and an absolute joy. Her strong, independent quality anchors the other colorful characters: Penny and Chloe Saunders, the mother and daughter with debt problem, Barbara the so-called seer who works part-time at the supermarket, the ghost George Tailor with his Soul Stalkers’ theories, and even Mr. Kibbles, the ghost cat. The story itself is marvelous as well as humorous and gives remarkable insight into how the dead deals with the living world and it discusses the mystery of the other side. The ending takes a surprising turn but it ties up everything together nicely in the end. An enjoyable read and I can't wait for the author's next brilliant work.

I was excited to see another release by Peter John. I thoroughly enjoyed his book the Dead Medium and have even given it as a gift. The Rekindled Affair by Peter John is just as enjoyable. This author has a way with characters, you can tell he knows how to sum up a person and spot their quirks, regrets, longings, etc. He has a knack for giving readers an easy sense of how his characters became who they are (the good and the bad) – like real people. This short story is full of life and a nice taste of the author’s style. Well worth the time! 5-stars.

"The Rekindled Affair" by Peter John is a short but humorous and witty account of a couple reunited after 45 years. When she left him she broke both their hearts and when by chance the two meet again, they go on a proper date, 45 years late and with bodies that also have aged 45 years.
This short story is very entertaining and very likeable for its great portrayal of mature love, unafraid of taboos yet not patronising or voyeuristic.
The lovers are interesting characters and carry the story easily. A charming read.

The Rekindled Affair is a very short read that was witty and charming.

By Author Peter John who is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine, I find his books refreshing and always great for a laugh.

This book has a wonderful story line with charm and humor. A couple reunited after 45 years comes together for a date night. Not like your usual young couples in love, these two have matured and what follows is a fun read!

5 stars for this book of "The Rekindled Affair" and of a Rekindled Love.

The Rekindled Affair by Peter John

A wonderful addition to the work from Peter John. The Rekindled Affair is a funny, witty short, concerning a mature meeting of two souls that reunite after 45 years.

So funny as often the case with this author and a joy to read.

Rekindling an Affair

This is a well-written story about a man and woman rekindling their love affair after many years of separation. When they were young, Victoria broke up with Bob when he proposed to her and she had spent all her life regretting it. Now Bob is back into her life and she is determined not to let him go this time. The Author’s descriptive narrative gripped me from the first line to the last. I just wish this story was longer. It left me wanting more.

It is not easy to combine humour with romance (although having said that film rom-coms are big at the box office) but less so in narrative and Peter John, a writer coming of age, achieves the task with giddy aplomb. Unlike the rom-coms, this is not the story of two fit twenty-somethings, but two hopeful sixty-somethings who come together after a gap of four decades and prepare for a night of unbridled romance. Great fun.

This wonderful short story is about a couple who meet after 45 years and come together for a date. Their story is sensitively told with all the worries you would expect from such an unexpected reunion with rose-tinted memories, mixing with the harsh reality of old age.

The story is well-written with a good mix of humour and sensitivity. The characters are very believable. Totally enjoyable.

Victoria's back; my favourite character from Dead Medium, and she's as saucy as ever. I loved this story, it was both funny and charming. Peter John has a talent for finding humour in normal everyday things.

This was an interesting short read. The author does a great job bringing the characters of Victoria Noakes and Robert Jones to life. Readers are in for a laugh or two and a couple of surprises in this inside look at two people rekindling an old flame. The author knows how to keep readers' attentions and make us all take a look at life and love.
