Despite the vast hugeness of the Internet and the potential for viral marketing to skyrocket the popularity of a book, authors still need every tool in their arsenal to publicize their works, especially those authors who lack a marketing budget.

Today I want to mention a wonderful resource I came across for book authors--a free widget that displays your book and takes readers inside the pages. Literally! The widget actually tuns pages! Interested parties can read an excerpt of your book, are treated to illustrations, can read related buzz and, most importantly of all . . .

The BookBuzzr widget has been designed to reproduce the experience of reading a physical book as closely as possible. If you click on 'Read Now' in the widget, a virtual representation of the book will open in a new window or browser tab. Clicking on the corner of a page will turn it over, whilst clicking on the page itself will zoom the text.

How to Sell Books: Using Your Site and the Internet Social Media to Present Your Book.

- By Jo-Anne Vandermeulen

A book-widget called BookBuzzr (available at www.freado.com.) is a portable author website that extracts book information, supplied by the author, and makes your content accessible on many social media sites (Facebook, Blogs, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.). Now you can upload your pages (and just like a real book) your cover will be displayed on several of your personal profiles, including your web/blogsite, for your viewers to flip the pages and read.

Another cool book marketing tool! Very easy to implement.

- By Gary Val Tenuta

This gizmo instantly produces virtual pages from a pdf upload of your book. You can upload just a few teaser chapters to entice the reader into purchasing the book (I uploaded the prologue and chapters 1 thru 12) or you can upload your entire book if you want to. The reader just clicks the bottom of each page and the page "turns" over kind of like a real book page. Very nice. There is also a quick and easy little gizmo that automatically posts a nice bookbuzzr/freado graphic (including a little thumbnail of your book page) to your MySpace, Facebook, and a dozen other such sites that you might belong to... with just the click of the mouse!

So we tracked down the author - Gary Val Tenuta - to find out how he's driving all this traffic to his site and to his book-preview pages in BookBuzzr format. This interview will be valuable to anybody looking for ideas to market their book on the Internet.

They have a marvellous utility called Bookbuzzr which creates a preview of your books, author information/profile, links etc and you can imbed it on your website and communities such as Facebook. I've already had more views of the books in a few hours than anywhere else I have publisized the books, and I've also previewed a lot of other books on there.

We’ve mentioned that we now would like to post online previews of your work along with the written review, so that any readers of the review can not only see what our opinion is, but can check the work for themselves and see whether they agree or disagree. Previews are a fanatastic tool to give the reader a taste for your work and hopefully by the time they finish the preview they’ll be hooked and ready to buy the book so they can find out what happens.

Check this out: you can read an excerpt of Whale Song and even turn the page (click on corner and drag or just click on corner of page), making your online reading experience more like the real thing. Enlarge the screen first. Enjoy Whale Song...

fReado - New book marketing portal

- By Alan Baxter

There are so many online places for book marketing and book networking these days. Places like Goodreads and LibraryThing have been around a while now, Amazon tries to be way more than just a book shop and so on. I’ve recently stumbled across another one called fReado.

For a new way to read on line - Try BookBuzzr

- By LK Gardner-Griffie

I ran across a new method of providing a preview for my book (soon to be books) online. Through fReado there is a beta for a different preview software which gives the look of turning pages and you have the ability to zoom in on the page should you need to. So, I thought I’d give it a whirl.
Here’s how it works. Let’s say you’re at a party and somebody asks you about your book. Can you describe it in five seconds? More importantly, can the person who heard the description repeat it to someone else (when you’re not there) without distorting the message?
