Cleverly Mastered Romance with Braw Highlanders and Brave Lassies
I simply loved this tale. Eilis and James' romance
is endearing, the suspense well played out and the secondary characters
are just as lovable. Eilis finds herself in situations that will make
the reader chuckle and James is sure to make an impression of his own.
Ms.
Spear has a plan and it's a cleverly mastered. She draws the reader
into her stories with witty banter, romantic pursuit and cleverly woven
suspense. Medieval Scotland comes alive in vivid detail with braw
highlanders and brave lassies who win their hearts. Highly recommended!

Playing make-believe is only
fun when you’re a kid… and your life’s not at stake. Forced to take the
place of her deceased cousin, Eilis
is faced with a moral dilemma. Go through with the deceit and pretend
she is her cousin?
Or find a way to get out – at any
cost? For her, the answer is obvious.
Free-spirited and
intelligent, Eilis
is not happy about having to pretend
to be another. She’s too wrapped up in just being her. Despite the era
in which
she lives, she is very much her own
person with her own thoughts and opinions, which was not the norm back
then. However,
she handles herself well. Much too
often, a heroine of Eilis’ caliber comes off as snotty, spoiled, or just
plain obnoxious.
The author does a wonderful job of
melding her free spirit with the constraints of society in the twelfth
century.
James
MacNeill, on the other hand, is
everything you expect a Laird to be – and more. He’s tough, he’s smart,
and he’s tough as nails. However, he
balances it well with a great sense of humor and a true love of his
people. When
the mysterious Eilis is thrust upon
his household, he approaches her with both caution and interest. And
this mixture of restraint
and undeniable attraction is what
makes Eilis and James such an explosive couple. They both know that they
should hold back
and yet, they can’t. It’s classic
and it works.
If you’re in the mood for a great historical novel
full of laughs, plotting and adventure, then The Accidental Highland Hero
is the book for you. Between the cast of
amusing characters, the politics
between clans, and the budding romance between washed up maiden and
Laird of the castle,
you will not have a chance to get
bored!
