4.0 out of 5 stars Deception With A Capital D, September 1, 2010
By Teresa Beasley (Indianapolis,IN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
In Flames of Deception by Marcia E. Woodruff, readers enter a realm of secrets, betrayals, and consequences. Candice George runs several modeling agencies, which have made her the successful woman she is today. She meets Hamilton Barker, a handsome and sexy man that makes her mouth water. While having dinner she invites him to emcee her fashion show, giving her the chance to get to know him better. The game begins once Hamilton realizes that she cannot resist him. Will he take it too far? Or will Candice come to her senses?

Melina Divine is Candice's best friend and business partner. She has always had her friend's best interest at heart until... Melina starts an affair she should have let go a long time ago and now that affair wants more than she can give. How far will Melina go to have happiness?

Candice loves with her heart and not her head and she will find out that things are not always as they seem. When she meets Damon, and he helps her out of a situation, she feels obligated to entertain him. When things seem to be going well for Candice, hell rears its ugly head and plots begin to form against her. Candice becomes confused and cannot decide on whom to trust. Will she have a happy ending? Or will everything that Candice has go up in flames?

Flames of Deception is a sheer book of entertainment. It is full of sex, deceit, and unwanted relationships. After reading this book, readers will definitely be aware of the company they keep. I enjoyed how author used well-developed characters and unsuspecting twists to keep readers interested until the end. This book had me so mesmerized that I could not put it down; I finished it in one day's time. I look forward to reading more from this author. I recommend this book to readers of suspense and drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deception at it's Finest, August 9, 2010
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
Hamilton Barker is the epitome of every woman's dream. He is tall, dark, and handsome. He has a girlfriend, Candice, who is the epitome of every man's dream. Hamilton uses Candice as a trophy piece and the fact that she is well off, gives him even more incentive to keep her around. He hasn't been faithful to Candice in the five years that they have been together.
Despite his charming good looks, Hamilton quickly becomes the character that you love to hate. He has a dark past that Candice isn't aware of. As the story slowly reveals the details of Hamilton's dark past, the book became a page turner that literally had me on the edge of my seat. And with every new character, was a new twist as I discovered that they each had their own connection to Hamilton.
The story contained in this book was full of what we love most....DRAMA! It was all drama based upon betrayal and deceit. I quickly considered Hamilton the villain of the book and found myself anticipating his demise. Unfortunately, both I and the characters in the book, didn't quite give him the credit he deserved. The book closed with an unbelievable ending that left me speechless. I am eagerly awaiting a sequel to this book as Candice the damsel, was not the only character left in distress.

This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
It only took me an hour to read this book as I couldn't put it down! I love it! I love the plot. My only thing is I really hope Ms. Woodruff writes a sequel because I really want Hamilton to get what is coming to him and that is all I am going to say without giving up too much information about the book!! Congratulations, Ms. Woodruff on a job well done! I hope your working on a sequel because I really would like to know what happened with Candice and Melina's relationship and Candice's relationship with Damon. As well as Melina and Tracey's relationship!

5.0 out of 5 stars What you won't do for love!, November 18, 2009
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
When I first started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. Actually, I read it while riding from Jackson, TN to Nashville (about two hours away)and by the time I got there, I was finished reading. I just couldn't stop. There were so many secrets, lies, and betrayals going on in the book, I caught myself talking aloud saying, "I know (s)he didn't." After about the fourth or fifth one, it finally got on my husband's nerves but I didn't care. If you are looking for a great read with a great plot, memorable characters, and an unexpected ending, then Flames of Deception is surely the book to get.
