ABOUT Donna Maguire

Donna Maguire
I began writing children's books in March with the first book in the series published on Amazon in July of 2015. It may seem a bit odd that the series already includes four books. The reason is that I created the books without even thinking of publishing them. After more than 35 years in t More...

Description

Silly Willy Winston is a Basset Hound with the biggest ears ever and a super large snout. Sure he trips over his ears at times, which makes him a bit of a clown, but they also give him super powers. Silly Willy Winston puts his big ears and snout to good use. He takes on secret identities like Super Snout, Inspector Snout, Explorer Snout and Pirate Snout to help friends in need. His snout turns frowns upside down when he helps face fears, find missing pets and toys, explore strange places and travel the seven seas.

Young readers 6 to 8 (1st to 3rd grade)

Silly Willy Winston is a Basset Hound with the biggest ears ever and a super large snout. He is my beloved pet and I chose him as a muse because of his traits. While they may seem awkward at times, are also what gives him his special qualities, making Silly Willy Winston a unlikely hero with whom young readers can relate and admire. These traits enable Silly Willy Winston to take young readers on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Along the way he promotes curiosity about nature's mysteries, the environment, the world and the creatures that inhabit it. The goal is to nurture a love of reading, discovery and learning delivered through humor, love, loyalty and friendship.

In this first book of a series, the world gets introduced to Silly Willy Winston, a steadfast friend and unlikely hero that young readers can relate to and admire. A heart-warming Basset Hound, Silly Willy Winston was inspired by author and illustrator Donna Maguire's real-life dog Winston. In The Wacky World of Silly Willy Winston, an ordinary pet with extraordinary adventures we meet a quirky hound whose traits, like his big ears and stout frame at first may seem awkward. However, through self-acceptance Silly Willy comes to learn his unique characteristics and abilities are just the things needed to help his friends and have adventures as Super Snout, Inspector Snout, Explorer Snout and Pirate Snout.

I love this book! Silly Willy Winston is so adorable, so fun and a great read for kids. He is an adorable character and it really makes it exciting for my kids to want to try and read and understand all that he is and the adventures he plans on taking you on. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has kids just learning to read as it is easy and exciting for them to read. I have a baby and a toddler and they both enjoy it equally! Make this a must read for kids!!!!

I loved this book so much, and I think the author of this book is amazing at writing! This book is about how Silly Willy helped people. One of the best parts of this book is when a little girl had a bad dream, but Silly Willy made it into a good dream. Silly Willy helps his friend and all kinds of people because it feels like Silly Willy has his own office.
