Half-breed. Oreo Cookie. Suzy Q. These are a few of the names the bullies spewed her way. Did she cower? Sometimes. Did she cry? A lot. Did they win? No. Come along for the reading ride as author, Kori D. Miller, describes her life as an interracial woman in the United States, from grade school in the 70's to college in the late 80's, and beyond. You'll laugh. You might cry. And, you might get as ticked off as she did. In the end, you'll discover that she's a lot like you.

The essays describe my experiences as an interracial American from my formative years to adulthood. The first published essay was written during college more than 20 years ago. I purposely decided not to rewrite any of the essays. Partly because they chronicle what I believed and felt at the time I was writing them. For this revised edition, I chose to add notes to a few of the essays, include my perspective as a 40+-year-old, and offered some final thoughts. These are responses to some frequently asked questions since publishing the first edition in 2011. I'm always open to questions. - KDM
