Description

Product Description:
Indelibly scarred by childhood trauma and neglect, Karl Connor attempted to flee the dark shadows of his young life, the horrors that he had experienced, and the inner demons that continued to haunt him.
As the past and present collide the brutal reality is that the long slide into violence has already begun, but who could have imagined that his desire for perceived vengeance would have such terrifying results.
Young women are being murdered in London suburbs and there is seemingly nothing to connect them to one another, let alone the killer whose charming manner hides a warped and sick mind. Detective Inspector Ross is determined to hunt the killer down, jeopardising his career in the process, as he becomes increasingly alienated and obsessed with finding the murderer.
It is a difficult time for him and his depleted team as they find themselves caught up in Karl's deadly game of ruthless vendetta and vengeful murders.
Soon their lives begin to run on a parallel, which leaves one of his team in mortal danger.

From the Publisher
'Dominion' is the follow up to 'Redemption', Wayne's debut novel, which was nominated for both The Guardian First Book Award & The McKitterick Prize.

From the Author
I feel that you will find this to be a tight, tension-building tale that provides both psychological insight as well as a thought-provoking read.
For fans of Bret Easton Ellis/Val McDermid.

About the Author
Wayne Sharrocks was born in the London Borough of Camden. After attending college he embarked on a career in animal welfare before returning to his passion for writing.
He now lives in the picturesque village of Blo Norton, situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, and is enjoying his new profession as an author of psychological thrillers.
In his spare time he enjoys art & design and is still a keen supporter of a number of animal welfare charities.

I found this to be a strong well-written thriller that provided psychological insights, fast-pace action and prose that was both sharp and realistic. The characters were well defined and well written and the text emotive. I quickly became absorbed in the story and the pages flew by effortlessly towards a clever ending. Very impressive.

I'd waited over eighteen months for this book to be released and I'm relieved to say that it was worth the wait as it worked on so many levels-a tragic love story-a cautionary tale & an insightful psychological thriller. Although it contained some well worn plotlines-world-weary police chief battling his own personal demons-complex killer & romantic interest, it was written with such power, emotion and wit that it never felt staid or cliched and held me totally captivated throughout.
Very gritty and thought-provoking, much in the mode of such writers as Ian Rankine and Val McDermid. For a relatively new author-very impressive.

WOW!
This book will draw you right in..
That the cold blooded killer was so intelligent an "normal" on the surface made it that much more frightening! This is a real page turner- I loved it!

This novel will definitely keep your attention. I must confess that I was absolutely fascinated by the prologue, after which it was a hard book to put down. A serial killer stalks London's streets and the author skillfully confronts the reader with a series of horrific murders and leaves no forensic stone unturned as the story hurtles towards a terrifying and nailbiting finale.

I found this book to be a psychological thriller with a very modern feel. As you turn the pages you become absorbed in the battle between a serial-killer on a perceived mission of revenge and retribution, and the world-weary police detective hunting him. There is plenty of astute text and dialogue, that lifts it from the norm in this genre.
'Dominion' is the follow up to 'Redemption', Wayne's debut novel, shortlisted for Channel 4 television's Book-Club Award and nominated for both The Guardian First Book Award & The McKitterick Prize.

Professional Reviews

Gothic Beauty Magazine
I have just finished 'Dominion' by Wayne Sharrocks and absolutely adored it! It is essentially a dark psychogical thriller but combines the dark Gothic prose of Poppy Z. Brite with the subject matter/pacing of thriller writers like Ruth Rendell & Ian Rankin.
I read his debut novel 'Redemption' last year and though that was a good Gothic/Alternative thriller the latest literary offering was even better.
Definitely worth checking out for the Goth-hearted among you.

Tension...Terror...A great read.

A taut psychological thriller...,
The main protagonist 'Karl Connor' leads us through this amazing well-observed tale. As Karl attempts to escape from the dark shadows of his youth, the terrors that he had experienced and the inner demons continue to haunt him. A chance meeting in a local public house leads Karl into a steamy love affair. Has he at last learned how to love and be loved?
What Karl doesn't know is that the object of his affection is Detective Sandra Ryder. She is hunting a serial killer who seemingly strikes at random. With few clues to follow and time running out, she fears that her fast-track career will end in failure...

As with Sharrocks' debut novel 'Redemption' I found this to be a taut, tension building psychological thriller that pumps the suspense out until the final page. Dominion is filled with great (& more importantly believable) characters that take you through a thrilling roller coaster ride.
Highly recommended!
