Review:

This is a book I read in one sitting as I just could not put it down.
It was a tense, dark and at times disturbing read as you followed the lead character battling with his own emotional demons and those being forced upon him as he became ensnared within a corrupt police investigation.
The dark prose was tempered by some nice touches of observational humour that lifted the gloom and made for a stimulating and thought-provoking read.
Contained some great descriptive text that really immersed you into the authors world and kept you there until the final page.
All in all a very impressive and unique tale.
From the publishers: 'Redemption', Wayne's debut novel, which was nominated for both The Guardian First Book Award & The McKitterick Prize is now on general release.

' A strong well-written thriller that provided psychological insights, fast-pace action and prose that was both sharp and realistic...'    THE GUARDIAN

'Can you enjoy a book that leaves you feeling paranoid and uncomfortable?

Oozing with claustrophobic malice, Sharrocks lures into his disturbing world of mistaken identity, easily bonding you with mentally fragile protagonist Jamie Allen, he takes you on a nightmare journey into the depths of real life horror. Proving the world of fantasy demons and ghoulish monsters just can't shake you like a situation that could actually happen to any of us right here and right now, this book will leave you avoiding policemen everywhere for fear of sharing Jamie's fate.

Not just a murder story, but a thought provoking novel that has you turning the pages as fast as you can - and just when you think you can let out the breath you've been holding...Bam! A sting in the tail that you really wont have seen coming!

Can you enjoy a book that leaves you feeling paranoid and uncomfortable? Absolutely.'     AMAZON

An edgy psychological thriller with a thought-provoking storyline.
This tale shows a young man fleeing from his childhood traumas and neglect, re-inventing himself in an attempt to get his life back on track, only for a chance meeting in a local bar to then turn his life upside down. Through a tragic chain of events he becomes embroiled within an ongoing police investigation that lead his life (& mind) to unravel.

I've just finished reading 'Redemption' and felt compelled to write a few lines. It's an excellent read that takes you on an emotional journey. I found it to be an intelligent and lucid thriller that kept me turning the pages. It has to be the darkest
yet at times wittiest book that I have ever read. You feel for the central character and feel like you are actually living his trauma as life seemingly conspires against him. The author writes with such emotion that he lures you seductively into his world and you are soon experiencing a full range of emotions as it's sad, funny, loving, hateful and has a superb sting in the tail.
