Description

Dr. Malhotra wanted to write a novel as far back as he could remember. However, he chose a technical and academic career and this involved writing research papers in peer reviewed journals. Some are widely referred in the scientific community and Dr. Malhotra has won numerous awards for his contributions to technical education. Although Dr. Malhotra has authored technical books there was little time for writing a novel during his busy professional career practiced in North America, the Middle East and India. All he got time was for a Novella during that period. Those who read that work spoke well of it and encouraged Dr. Malhotra to write a full-length novel. Last year the time and opportunity came to fulfill that ambition. The result was his first full-length novel – Nude besides a Lake.

The hero of the novel is Fred. It seemed that Fred was fated to confront nudity. His home in Vancouver was located close to a famous beach called Wreck Beach well known for its nudity. When Fred moves away to a remote Lake Valley in the Himalayas he finds that he has come to live close to an eastern religious sect that recommends nudity during some of its spiritual practices. The sect leader is a young Brad Pitt look alike. He frequently meditates and instructs while nude and even attends public functions in town in the same birthday suit.

Fred wondered if he had made the right choice in deciding to travel. After years of struggle and difficulties his life had eventually begun to hum in Vancouver, at least until a few months ago. His weekdays were filled with a job that he enjoyed and weekends were filled with pretty Gale, a blonde girl friend originally from Maine. Fred’s company had folded up and so had Fred’s job. Jobless for three months now, Fred was considering his options. He was faced with the choice of selling his home or putting it out on rent. Fred chooses the latter option while deciding on a trip to India. The search for an ancestor from India takes Fred to a beautiful green valley of a blue lake, pine trees and wild roses in the Central Himalayas. Here Fred is confronted with full nudity, eastern holy men and beautiful Angelina. Fred realizes that he has become a catalyst for rapid changes in this valley. From the young holy man he learns many secrets yet unknown to the world including a closely guarded secret of Queen Victoria and the historical British Empire.
The story is filled with wisdom, humor, love, memorable characters and inspiration. This novel is a fully original work completely different to any other published novel. It is written in a style that is beautiful and simple at the same time. The fast moving story holds a reader enraptured and it has a surprising ending that is sure to please.
