Ron Kop was a free lance writer and award-winning photojournalist who journeyed with former President Jimmy Carter. On April 3, 2014, the author died from agent orange induced prostate cancer that metastasized into his bones. The U.S. government denied medical benefits despite his service in Vietnam as a helicopter door gunner. He didn't have insurance and couldn't afford to see a doctor. It was too late when the doctors discovered why Ron kept saying, "My back hurts."
His best friend, Dan Doyle, made a death bed promise that he would finish Ron's Jody sagas. Dan is a teacher and psychologist who authored When Kids Know Why They Try along with a multitude of articles for parents and teachers.
