Mary D. Brooks lives in Australia and has been writing for forty years and has published short fiction stories for various Australian magazines and some non fiction pieces before she turned her attention to the Intertwined Souls series. Her first novel was In the Blood of the Greeks which was quickly followed by Where Shadows Linger and Full Circle. She now continues the series with Hidden Truths, Awakenings and the soon to be released No Good Deed. When she's not writing, she's a graphic and web designer, travels when the travel bug hits and is chief editor for various multimedia sites.

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm a 50 year old woman who has written non fiction and fiction for as long as I can remember. I'm a web and graphic designer in addition to being a writer. I own/manage several large multimedia sites. Creating - whether it's writing or designing gives me a great deal of pleasure.

2. Describe your book Awakenings (Intertwined Souls Series Book 4) in 30 words or less.

It's about finding out what you believe is the truth is not necessarily true. It's about love, a paranormal awakening and discovering you a part of a bigger plan.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The opening paragraph. Once that is set down, it's off we go.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

When I was 14 I was given a book called I Am Rosemarie by Marietta D. Moskin. It shaped my view of the Holocaust and it led me to other books. It was one of the reasons I wrote my first novel "In the Blood of the Greeks" which was set during World War II during the German occupation of Greece. I wanted to weave the plight of the Jews in Greece to my main story.

Whilst this book is fiction, it led me to books and stories that were real accounts of that horrible time in history.

The books that have the greatest influence on me are those that showcase a person's courage, inner strength and a desire to overcome adversity despite the odds that may overwhelm them in the process. Triumph of the human spirit.

My novels have the element of rising above what fate has given you.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I've been doing a lot of things (some work, some don't). Being on BookBuzzr is one way, another is word of mouth and promoting the book on facebook, twitter, my own sites. I have hired people that know what they are doing.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I read a lot, maintain my sites or create new ones, I work full time and somewhere in that, I sleep.

7. What are you working on next?

I'm working on my next novel "Into The Light" which is book 6 of the Intertwined Souls Series and outlined a novel with characters from my 3rd book "Hidden Truths".
