I am a big fan of anything gory with a dark humor, and prose dialogue. I have always liked vampire stories, but never found a good book that relates to urban black America. I started researching various obscure African originated myths, and inspired by them, day dreamed this tale into existence. This is my first book and part 1 of a series. I hope you take a ride in this bloody, twisted, and comedic story with me. My favorite writers are too many to name, and tend to change, but Chuck Palahniuk is usually on top of that list.

Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I was born in Munich, Germany and moved to the USA when I was 14 years old. I am a military brat, and my family moved all over the world, which helped me to accept many different cultures and traditions. My mother has introduced me early on to a wide variety of children books, which probably had a big influence on my decision to try and write my own novel.

2. Describe your book GANGPIRE in 30 words or less.

Gangpire description: 17-year-old Tacoma’s little sister is brutally raped and murdered on her way home from school. Devastated with grief, and not thinking clearly, he let his best friend turn him into a vampire. Equipped with super natural powers, Tacoma sets out on a bloody quest to punish his sister’s killers. Along for the ride are his best friend Raider, Slow Poke and Starburst (also vampires). It doesn’t take long before they attract attention with their killing spree, and things get quickly out of hand.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part creating the story was actually after I finished the first draft. I constantly changed and amended sections, dialogues or scenes. It seemed as if I was never satisfied, and I had to eventually stop myself or the book would have never been printed, lol.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

The main influence were probably the Alfred Hitchcock's stories I read as a youth. Later I was hooked by Chuck Palahnuik, and Walter Mosley novels. But my taste changes over time.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

My current marketing strategy is strictly social media outlets, which is very exhausting to say the least, lol.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

At the moment I am always writing, but I remember the time when I met with friends and go to the movies, or the beach (smile).

7. What are you working on next?

At the moment I am putting the finishing touches on Gangpire 2, and I am almost done with Gangpire 3. I already have an idea for No. 4, even though it was originally planned as a trilogy.
