Bobbie Ann Cole

I have lived and worked in Israel with my husband Butch, a Canadian. We now live in Canterbury, England, where I am a storyteller and a teacher, as well as a writer. My first two books, both memoirs, became Amazon #1 bestsellers. My debut novel, Being Lena Levi, was shortlisted for the Eyelands 2019 Novel Prize.

Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I have lived in many countries, including France, Germany, Ivory Coast and Israel. I currently divide my time between my native UK and Atlantic Canada, home of my husband. We recently celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary.
I have three grown-up children and three grandchildren, 2 girls, 10 and 8 and a boy, 5. I also enjoy my three step children and three step grandchildren.
My background is in business and journalism but writing has always been my true vocation. I have always been writing a book or planning a book. Yet She Does Not Fear the Snow is my first full-length publication.

2. Describe your book ‘She Does Not Fear the Snow’ in 30 words or less.

A trail of miracles led me from a Jerusalem church where I wasn’t supposed to be to find love in Atlantic Canada.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Stopping writing it.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

For my memoir, Derek Prince’s work, ‘Appointment in Jerusalem.’ I am also a big fan of fiction writers Daphne du Maurier and Margaret Atwood. Both write stories filled with foreboding in painterly settings.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

My launch hinged on three main events: a book signing at the local bible bookstore, leading an evening service of readings and testimonies at my church, and a 3-day free Kindle version promo. I did my best to create momentum for these events.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I love to walk and I enjoy good food, whether cooked by me or eaten out. I’m also very fond of horses and dogs,  though I presently own neither.

7. What are you working on next?

I am well into my next book, a fictional story set in 1950. A girl of 14, who thinks she’s English, is tracked down by her real mother, a Holocaust survivor.
