Author L Yar studied Master Fiction with Rick Moody for two weeks and Advanced Fiction with Nicholas Delbanco and Kathryn Harrison during a month-long writing residency at the New York State Writers Institute. In addition, she studied fiction writing with Catherine Texier at The New School in New York.
She was Short-List Finalist for the 2013 and the 2014 William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Prize (Novel category), and the 2007 recipient of an important grant from the Elizabeth George Foundation for her first book of fiction.
Currently, the author is working on her second novel, a surreal and dystopic road trip, which takes place in and around Philadelphia and Manhattan during the early 21st century.
Ms. Y is also an Art Advisor and Curator based in New York, and an Instructor at the School of Visual Arts, New York. Previously, she lived and worked in New Orleans for ten years.
