Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a freelance author and copywriter based in the north of England. I love history, and believe that many of the freedoms we enjoy today have been bought for us, through the pioneering efforts of our ancestors. With this in mind I believe we should view the present age through the windows of the past.

2. Describe your book The Way Of Vengeance in 30 words or less.
'The Way of Vengeance' is a story of passion, courage and survival against impossible odds, set during a real life Soviet genocide in the Ukraine, during 1932/3.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Writing a novel is an enormous undertaking. The research, writing and revisions took me about two thousand hours. I loved the entire process, apart from the proof reading and multiple revisions. This part of the job is very laborious and painstaking.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?
I remember reading 'Born Again' by Chuck Colson (President Nixon's aide during the Watergate scandal) when I was in my early twenties. It made a great impression on me at the time and I have never forgotten it.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?
I don't have an agent and I must confess that I find self promotion quite difficult as I am naturally quite self deprecating. However I have had some success with press releases producing news coverage of my work. Some examples of this can be found on my website.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?
When I am not writing, I am a musician in one of Yorkshire's top flight brass bands. It's very demanding and challenging and keeps me sharp!

7. What are you working on next?
I would love to take on a movie project at some time in the future, so I am beginning to think this through and investigate the possibilities.
