Laura Johnson

Laura Johnson is a first time author with her new novel titled “Where Would I Be”.  She resides in Memphis, TN, where she attends college pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social & Criminal Justice with a minor in forensics.  Laura was first bitten by the writing bug three years ago.  While writing a journal she began to realize that her story could possibly help others who were going through the same thing.

In 2006, Laura was the victim of an abusive relationship that lasted for two and half years.  The relationship was volatile from the beginning.  While in this relationship, Laura contemplated suicide almost on a daily basis.  If asked, she would immediately tell you that what kept from going through with suicide were her mother and younger brother.  “I couldn’t leave them with that much pain, no matter what I was going through.”

By 2008, Laura had suffered many things at the hand of her abuser.  Everything from verbal abuse to rape.  She soon decided that she had to get out of the relationship before it was too late.  Her last interaction with her abuser consisted of an argument and a fight, which lead to him being arrested.  That day he promised he would get even.

In 2009, Laura began to write.  She thought that, as her mother had told many times before, that she was not the only woman who had or will ever go through something like this.  After filling up four notebooks, she decided that she might have a book on her hands.  Laura went on to make the necessary changes along with adding other things to her writing and started letting others read her work.

She would let anyone who had the time of day read what she had written.  When those who’d read her work wanted to read more, she knew she had something good on her hands.  During the next few months, Laura reread and rewrote scenes in her book over a thousand times.   Once she was satisfied with her work, Laura began sending friend request to any author on Facebook that would accept.  She asked a million and one questions to make sure she was representing herself right and sending out her manuscript correctly.

Laura attended online writing seminars taught by Terry McMillan.  She spoke with others such as Sharon Cullars, Novelist Junnita Jackson, and so many others.  If you are reading this you might determine that Laura is a little OCD.  She is the first to admit that she has to have everything in place before she can put something to the side and move on.

Now the final work of what you all have is of her tears, fears, and a little anger.  If you would like to know more about Laura Johnson, you can reach her by email at ltjauthor@gmail.com.  On her blog at http://laurajohnsonauthor.blogspot.com/, on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/AuthorLauraTJohnson and Twitter at @AuthorLauraJ.
