Describe your book ‘Uncle Al Capone - The Untold Story from Inside His Family’ in 30 words or less.

Deirdre Capone, the last living Capone, has spent her life trying to reconcile her memory of Uncle Al with the legendary criminal and heal the scars of growing up a member of perhaps the most notorious family in America. She has the unique experience of seeing the human side of Al Capone as he taught her to swim, ride a bike, and play the mandolin. She even lived in his house and saw him as a family man who enjoyed cooking spaghetti dinners and talking about the Chicago Cubs. Drawing upon her own vivid memories and extensive research, she has written the award-winning, best selling,  book Uncle Al Capone: The Untold Story from Inside His Family. As the only book ever written about Al Capone by someone who knew him, the telling of her family history is both personal and unique.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Trying to disprove all of the myths that other authors tried to accuse Al Capone of doing such as the Valentine's Day Massacre. Also sitting at a computer all day, every day writing and rewriting.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

Books that give the reader hope for a better life.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I recently spent four days out on Alcatraz Island where I sign books for the tourists. I sign hundreds of books a day.  I also do a couple of radio shows a day by telephone and a couple of TV shows a week.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

My husband and I are retired. I enjoy playing golf, mah jong, bridge and working out.

What are you working on next?

Publicity angels.
