Janice Ivy

My love of writing was a direct result of my love of reading. When I read great books, then I wanted to write great books. I wanted to write stories that people couldn't put down!

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm the mother of four, grandmother of one soon to be two. I work from home as a writer/teacher for an online school.

Describe your book ‘Taking Out the Trailer Trash’ in 30 words or less.

Taking Out the Trailer Trash is a mystery with a dash of romance on the side. The characters range from endearing to just plain dumb and hopefully memorable.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Just finding the time to write. Writing itself comes pretty easy for me.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I love to laugh, so my favorite authors are those that can make me laugh out loud while reading. Janet Evanovich, Carl Hiaasen, and others who write mysteries with a comic twist were probably the greatest influence on my writing.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I have the same problem here that I have with writing, no time. My life is very busy and somewhat chaotic so I don't have a lot of time to market my book. I depend on word of mouth and BookBuzzr.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

Sitting and looking at the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, enjoying my family, and watching a few favorite TV programs. There isn't really a lot of time that I'm not writing between my job and trying to find time to work on another novel.

What are you working on next?

I have several things in the works including a sequel to Taking Out the Trailer Trash--I often find that just because I decide to end a book that doesn't always mean that the characters are ready to stop talking to me.
