Jacque lives in Sitka, Alaska and has been writing since she got out of the US Navy in 1988. Since about the late 1990s, life got in the way of her writing and was shelved until the editing of her niece's novel inspired her to pursue her love of writing again. She likes writing mainstream, murder mystery and romance. She may try her hand at a self-help bio or other genres that speak to her. There are many ideas and characters roaming around in her mind, wanting to be set in Alaska and other places Jacque has lived, such as Oklahoma, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Iceland, Connecticut, California and Hawaii where her daughter was born.  I work full time as an Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper/Research Analyst/Technical Editor and Writer for five real estate appraisers.

Describe your book ‘Wilderness Heart’ in 30 words or less.

Lyn Taylor has to guide Nic Randall on a hunt in the Idaho wilderness while he scouts the land for its timber to be cut. Sparks fly between the two during the hunt.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part writing my book and any book, is the plotting.  You need to make sure the plot works and that by the end of the book, whether it is a mystery, horror, romance, or comedy, that it is all tied up with no loose ends.  Loose ends leaves the reader wondering what the heck and I certainly don't want that to happen.  That you write believable characters that the reader can relate to, good or bad, that the book left them liking what they read and will recommend the book to their reader friends. 

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

The time travel books Journey to Yesterday and Return to Yesterday written by the late June Lund Shiplett, great romances by Kathleen Woodiwiss, Stephen King, Janet Evanich's Stephanie Plum series.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

Work.  My job is a regular 8-5 with some overtime.  Relax with husband watching movies or I do research for my books.  I like history, looking at maps and learning about geography.  I like to set my books in places I have been so that I know what I am talking about having been there.  I also read; I was an avid reader first before I became a writer.

What are you working on next?

I always have several books going at once so that if I get writer's block on one book, I can work on another one.  I have a romantic time travel, a serial killer, a murder mystery and a fictional mainstream.  The last three are set in Alaska where the time travel is set in Southern Idaho, unlike Wilderness Heart which was set in the middle of the Idaho wilderness.
