Lisa Kessler

I have always loved to make up stories.  My first published work was The Wonders of Unicorn Creek in 6th grade.  The tiny hardcover was bound by my tiny elementary school.  The tale ran about 9 handwritten pages long.

Since then I’ve published short stories in anthologies like: Dead Souls, Ladies of Horror 2009, Hell Hath No Fury, and magazines like: Sinisteria, Horrorfind, Twilight Times, The Writers Hood, Savage Night, The Murder Hole, Behold and Shadowkeepzine.

My story ”Immortal Beloved” was a finalist for a Bram Stoker award, and my story “The Third King” won second place in Behold’s short story contest.

I’ve completed the first two novels in my Night Trilogy, and the first two novels in my new Moon Series.

I’m thrilled to announce that Entangled Publishing has contracted my entire Night Walker series!!!  The first book will be released in the Fall of 2011!!!

I’ve also recently released an eBook short story Across the Veil.  I hope you’ll grab a copy!

When I’m not writing, I also sing.  (You can hear song samples on my website: http:LisasLair.com )I’m a professional vocalist, performing with the San Diego Opera as well as other musical theater companies. I’m married to an incredible man who is also a great writer, and we live with our two teens in sunny San Diego, California.

Halloween is a fun time of year for me and all my ghouls.  I’ve always been fascinated by magic and what might be lurking the shadows.  Passion, love, jealousy, power and immortality also fuel many of my plots, but I’m not a villain…  I just enjoy writing them…

I hope you enjoy reading them!  ♣

Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I write dark paranormal romance and urban fantasy fiction. I currently write two different series for Entangled Publishing, the Night Series (vampires) and the Moon Series. (shifters)

2. Describe your book ‘Moonlight (The Moon Series) (Entangled Edge)’ in 30 words or less.

Moonlight is like West Side Story with werewolves and jaguars.. Adam is supposed to kill jaguars, but when he touches the frustratingly beautiful Lana, his inner wolf howls...mate.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Moonlight was truly a joy to write. Lana and Adam had lots of chemistry together and I really loved writing all the secondary characters in the wolf pack and the villains from the Nero Organization.  The middle of the book is always tougher for me, but this one really pulled through for me! :)

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

The Mists of Avalon, The Vampire Lestat, Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, The Shining

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I'm on all the social media platforms and when I have a new release I participate in blog tours as well as facebook events. I love interacting with readers! :)

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I also sing professionally and I still LOVE to read...

7. What are you working on next?

I'm finishing up Night Child, the 4th and final book in my Night Series.
