Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a technology professional by day and writer/publisher by night.  Very much like a b-list super hero. When it comes down to it all, I enjoy spending time with my family more than anything else. When I'm writing, I always put character development first… I think that if a reader can identify with a character and become invested in that character they will enjoy the ride through the book that much more.  When I'm creating the characters, I tap into the things that I feel and consider with my family and inject them into that character or moment.  I think it adds some solid drama and authenticity to the characters.

Describe your book ‘Sands Of Time’ in 30 words or less. 

Sands of Time is a reclamation journey of one man.  It is as much about his family as it is about saving himself and his eternal soul.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part of the process for me — for any book — is devoting the time.  My writing process is very singularly focused.  My mind is in that scene… or in that character at that moment and when the fingers are flying across the keyboard any interruption puts that moment... That scene… that emotion in jeopardy.  When I get distracted mid-though, it takes me a few moments to refocus and get back into that zone I was in to try and keep the flow and consistency in that scene.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

My biggest influences come from a combination of Hamlet by Shakespeare, Turn of the Screw by Henry James, Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and the Elvis Cole novels by Robert Crais.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

Marketing is a tricky thing and sites like Freado are incredible resources for authors and publishers to reach potential readers with new and innovative tools to make people consider your book.  I have a web site, a presence on Facebook, Twitter, GoodReads and  other social media outlets.  I have done radio interviews, taught classes on writing and other personal appearances.  I've found that a good conversation with a reader at a signing goes further that anything you can do online to gain a fan — not just a reader but a fan.  A reader buys one book... A fan waits for that next book.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I'm a pretty busy guy.  I run Bucks County Publishing, concentrate on my writing, spend time with my wife and children, play and teach guitar.

What are you working on next?

I have two irons in the fire currently.  I'm working on the sequel to Sands of Time entitled To Hell and Back.  And I'm also working on a hard-boiled detective novel,  A Philadelphia Story that is due out late summer/early fall this year.
