Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I began writing my
senior year in high school when I was introduced to my first creative writing
class. I never stopped writing since. I have had several short stories and an
article on Karate published throughout the years. Just recently, I delved into
self-publishing, at the requests of my editor and a fellow author buddy. I
published three non-fiction books on creative writing exercises, a short horror/science
fiction story collection, and my first supernatural thriller novel, When Angels
Sing.
Describe your book ‘When Angels Sing’ in 30 words or less.
Jenna meets the man of her dreams online, but when
she visits him, she is drawn into a deadly cat-and-mouse game by a killer
intent on pursuing her.
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Researching and adding plausibility to the
background and its characters.
What books have had the greatest influence on you?
Well, I was a huge Stephen King fan for awhile. I
think his stories influenced me to start writing. Then I moved into my serial
killer phase and read a lot of non-fiction books on FBI profilers such as John
Douglas and real-life killers. As for fiction, Heather Graham and Kay Hooper
are currently huge influences on my step up into the thriller genre.
Briefly share with us what you do to market your
book?
I've done anything affordable that I can think of
-- word of mouth; advertising in newsletters, newspapers, on my car, and
through passing out promotional items such as pens, business cards, flyers,
t-shirts, etc.; using my book's info in signature lines for all outgoing emails
or on forum posts; and through my website, blog, and social media (FaceBook and
Twitter). I also attempted a virtual book tour where I gave away free copies of
my book and asked the winners to post a review up at amazon.com.
How do you spend your time when you are not
writing?
Watching
movies, reading, or taking my dog for some exercise.
What are you working on next?
I have several thrillers in the works right now --
a psychological thriller about a research assistant who witnesses a murder and
has to protect herself before she becomes the next victim; an espionage
thriller about terrorists who want to steal some nano-technology from the U.S.
that can regenerate dead cells; and an erotic thriller involving vampires,
hunters, and lots of sex. :-)
