Selene Castrovilla is the award-winning author of two historical non-fiction books for children. By the Sword was named a 2008 IRA Notable Book, and a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award gold medalist for 2009. amd won a Kansas Reading Circle 2007 award. Her second historical non-fiction book, Upon Secrecy, was published in 2009.
Selene holds an MFA in creative writing from New School University and a BA in English from New York University. Selene always knew she was a writer, but some of her subjects have come as a surprise. Above all, she aims to tell the truth in her books, and to be the change she wishes to see in the world.
She lives on Long Island with her two sons.
