David McMann White

David McMann White resides in Charleston, West Virginia where he teaches Electrical Technology at Carver Career and Technical Education Center.

David and his wife, Philann, enjoy taking advantage of the many outdoor opportunities available to them in the Mountain State. His passion for music and nature is evident in his writings.

As a boy he spent his summers and occasional weekends discovering the natural wonders of Greenbrier and Monroe Counties in West Virginia. His grandfather's farm bordered what was at that time hundreds of acres of wilderness. It was there that he gained an interest in the underground world hidden below the fields and forests. To the dismay of his parents David would find his way to one cave or another at any given opportunity.

David is the father of three children. His lifelong interest in the arts and nature is reflected in the career paths that his son and two daughters have chosen to travel.

David graduated from Charleston High School in 1967 where his favorite subjects were music and literature. He continued his education at Potomac State College. He also attended Beckley College, and West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

David is an avid reader and finds great satisfaction in writing.

With the release of Pathy's Violin - Journey to Nigea in 2010 he wishes to share his vivid imagination with you, the reader.

Pathy's Violin - Journey to Nigea will be followed by Pathy's Violin - The Arrival in 2011.

Interview

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

This is always a tough question to answer. I am who I am. I would say that I am a person that has imagination, a wonderful family and a full-filling career as an educator. I live in West Virginia where there is ample opportunities for me to enjoy what I love most, nature, wonderful people, and the color green.

Describe your book ‘Pathy's Violin Journey To Nigea’ in 30 words or less.

“Reading Pathy's Violin leads the reader on a journey where expectations and rules seem out of place. Anything can and does happen. It is a love, thriller, mystery, fantasy.”

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Finding the time to write.  Obstacles are always in the way of the writer. My mind is full of tales to be told. Writing is the easy part.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I would say anything written by Leo Tolstoy. War and Peace was a favorite. I have read it countless times. I also love Mark Twain.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

“ Of course I try to take advantage of Freado, and I use social media such as Facebook. As with anything word of mouth is important. I am still learning about the marketing process.”

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

“I am an educator and teach most of the year. When I have time I enjoy sailing, fishing, and remodeling my house.”

What are you working on next?

“I am in the process of finishing the second book in the Pathy series. Will there be a third? I am not sure. The characters have become so familiar to me that I may hate saying goodbye when the time comes.”
